OBI Reset & Diagnostics Tool for Makita 18V Batteries

This OBI Reset & Diagnostics tool connects directly to your computer to inspect battery telemetry, read fault codes, and unlock Makita 18V & 14.4V LXT lithium-ion batteries. Compatible with software from the Open Battery Information project, use it with the web browser interface or via the standalone desktop application.

Key Diagnostic & Reset Capabilities

• Reset & Unlock: Clear lockouts, low-voltage protection flags, and BMS error codes.
• Cell-Level Monitoring: Read live individual cell voltages and display the delta between highest and lowest cells (ideal for cell replacement and pack balancing).
• Pack Telemetry: Monitor total pack voltage and internal thermistor temperatures.
• Usage & Identification: View lifetime charge cycles, detected pack model, and factory ROM ID.

Hardware & Battery Compatibility

Supported Battery Packs:
Makita 18V LXT (BL1820B, BL1830, BL1830B, BL1840, BL1840B, BL1850, BL1850B, BL1860, BL1860B, BL1890, BL18120) and 14.4V LXT equivalents.

Software & System Requirements:

• Operating System: Windows, macOS, Linux, or ChromeOS.
• Web App: Runs natively in Chrome, Edge, Opera, or Firefox 151+ (Safari not supported).
• Standalone Desktop App: Downloadable OBI-1 client available for Windows (installer), macOS (.dmg), and Linux (AppImage / .deb).
• USB Interface & Drivers: Connects via USB-C (cable not included). Uses a CH341 USB-to-serial interface, drivers may be required depending on your OS (download link provided with purchase).

The board comes flashed with the latest stable OBI firmware and supports browser-based or in-app updates. Open Battery Information is an independent open-source project and is not affiliated with BatteryWise. This item is sold as assembled hardware only.
